Description:

We are used to describing some of our intimacy as “love at first sight”. What would a teenager with visual impairment make sense of his/her first love? The Way He Looks, an award-winning film, is Daniel Ribeiro’s first long feature developed on his earlier short film I Don’t Want to Go Back Alone. It explores how a blind teenager, Leonardo, experiences his first love, his first desires and all new experiences that adolescence has brought to him. Important as it is, Leonardo’s budding sexuality is not the central theme as we might expect. The Way He Looks urges us to think intersectionally across sexuality, age and (dis)ability. In this seminar, Director Daniel Ribeiro will join us and discuss the way we watch The Way He Looks.
